Default Do I swipe or not swipe my PAYG

This week I'm working in Hampstead. Live in Canning Town.

I prefer to go Canning Town - Bank - Hampstead than Canning Town - London
Bridge - Hampstead, as the walk from DLR to Northern isn't too bad at Bank,
and the view's much nicer. Furthermore, lately the Jubilee Line crawls
along between Canning Town and Bermondsey, for some reason.

I have PAYG. I'm not getting off the DLR between Canning Town and Bank.

I obviously use the PAYG swipe to enter Canning Town station and to exit
Hampstead.

Should I also swipe again when on the platform at Canning Town and on
leaving the DLR bank platform?

If I don't, and an onboard inspector has a go at me for not doing swiping,
am I in the right or in the wrong?

Stupid, but obvious, question - why not buy a seven-day Travelcard?

Aside from that, AFAIK swiping in at CT and out at Hampstead is
perfectly OK, but some poorly-trained DLR train captains might
incorrectly suggest otherwise.

If those are the only journeys being made and it's only for a normal
working week then it costs more. GBP5 per day on Oyster PAYG or
GBP26 for a travelcard.

If all you do is make one Tube/DLR journey to work and one back
again for five days a week is it ever cheaper to have a travelcard
now?

Oh, I have two bus journeys a day as well. However, I'm not working Friday,
and I didn't work Bank Holiday Monday, so it's 3 x £6.60 (£19.80) so it's
still less than £26.

Next week I'll get a weekly if they want me back.

Didn't work on BHMonday or on Friday, so it works out cheaper this week to
go PAYG.

Aside from that, AFAIK swiping in at CT and out at Hampstead is
perfectly OK, but some poorly-trained DLR train captains might
incorrectly suggest otherwise.

Thanks. As long as I know I'm in the right, I'll be stroppy back and make a
note of their number. But if I'm in the wrong and I *should* have swiped,
then I had better shut up :-))

If I did swipe, I'm worried that I would end up paying £1 extra by mistake.

I think (and I say this as an East Ender) I'd rather work in Canning Town
and live in Hampstead.

LOL - I guess you're not alone. But I'm happy in Canning Town - it's very
friendly. It's Greengate (Plaistow) where I live actually, but Canning Town
is the station I use.
