Strange that the LDB is showing them to be Central Trains services,
instead of Silverlink.

Is this because they are using the Desiros rather than 321s?

Does anyone know what stock they used on the other special to the
match?
Looking at the fare, there must have been something else thrown in,
maybe a Class 81-85 and 14 MK1's maybe? They could always shunt along
the platform at Aston to let the supporters off in two goes!

Travel details for Villa Park

Due to the expected overcrowding of scheduled trains coming back from
Birmingham on the evening of the match Watford have arranged for two
Special Trains to be laid on through Portman Travel.

All bookings are to be made direct through the travel company.

The return ticket prices will start at 38, departing from Watford
Junction at approx 1.00pm and arriving back into Watford Junction at
approx 10.30pm.

Please Note: This will be a direct service and will have no stops on
route or return.

Final train timings will be confirmed on the train ticket. The return
time of the train will be delayed should the match go into extra time.

Train tickets can be purchased from Thursday morning (March 29th) at
9am by calling 020 8843 8820.

There will undoubtedly be heavy demand at this time so Portman Travel
would like to thank you in advance for your patience when booking.

Should you require any further information please email:

That was 1985 when class85 and Mk1s were stopped twice in Aston or
Witton depending on which fans they were bringing

They must have been Everton supporters for the match against Luton,
couldn't imagine an electric loco for the short hop from where the
fans from the south would have come across?

Isn't it because the LDB sysyem can't cope with a change of operator 'en
route', so through services run by Silverlink/Central show as Silverlink in
the down, and Central in the up directions?

IIRC the same happens with Scotrail at Newcastle, arrivals via Carlisle
(crewed by Northern) show as Scotrail, and all the departures show Northern.
