I wonder how the rules would apply to a person who used PAYG to board at one end of the line intending to travel to the other but then for some sensible and unforseeable reason (received a message their appointment was cancelled, felt sick, was frightened by hooligans on board, etc) changed their mind and got off earlier? They'd automatically be charged the £4 'penalty' fare for an uncompleted journey if they only touched-in and didn't touch-out (or likewise didn't touch-in and only touched-out). However the plan is for standalone Oyster readers to be installed at the intermediate stations so Oyster PAYG could be used to start or finish a journey at any station on the line. Is that likely to happen between Seven Sisters and Liverpool (and other similar arrangements)? |
