The two westbound stops are less than 100m apart (haven't measured it exactly but will do if necessary). *Is this the record? So, what is the shortest distance between two bus stops? Buses from Hoe Street Walthamstow that terminate at the Bus Station drop off by the tube / rail station and then turn into the bus station and stop to set down at the very first stop. *If that's more than 100 metres I'd be surprised although I recognise the circumstances are a tad unusual. At Elephant & Castle, bus stops V and Z are very close - literally around the corner from each other - and drawing lines on Google Earth suggests the edges of the yellow bus stop boxes are less than 80 metres from each other, though these are long bus stops (served by many frequent routes) so buses will normally travel a bit further than that. It does however makes perfect sense from an interchange maximisation point of view - both stops are served by routes 12 and 148. |
