In message , Clive
writes I can remember the Jubilee (Fleet) line being finished in a hurry for something or other at Stratford, so important that the moving block signalling was abandoned. Anyone remember what it was? The opening of the millenium dome in North Greenwich, rather than anything at Stratford. There were multiple delays on the Jubilee extension, including escalating costs, lack of promised finance, and worries about the New Austrian Tunnelling Method used. But the full moving block signalling had to be abandoned because it was an untried system developed by Westinghouse, and couldn't be made to work. -- Paul Terry |
