writes In message , Paul Terry writes There were multiple delays on the Jubilee extension, including escalating costs, lack of promised finance, and worries about the New Austrian Tunnelling Method used. Is that the same method, where the tunnel collapsed under Heathrow? Yes, and that's the reason for one of the Jubilee extension delays. But the full moving block signalling had to be abandoned because it was an untried system developed by Westinghouse, and couldn't be made to work. Isn't it moving block on the DLR? The Jubilee contract eventually went to Alcatel, who had provided a workable system for the DLR, but the Jubilee solution was not full moving block (partly because of difficulties integrating with the older signalling on the rest of the Jubilee line). Have they got anywhere near getting it working on the Jubilee yet? I think that most of it is now working. -- Paul Terry |
