It's always been patently obvious this is a tourist attraction rather than regular transport, and would therefore attract premium fares. Anyone wanting to travel between those two points with a travelcard (or Freedom Pass) can do so free on the Jubilee Line and DLR with an easy interchange at Canning Town. Those who want the fancy experience and view will need to fork out.

TfL should not be using our money to build tourist attractions, and the
roundel should IMO not be used for that purpose.

Doesn't most of the money come from the sponsor? And the fares should
more than cover the remainder of the costs. Furthermore, most
passengers on the dangleway will presumably get there using other TfL
services, so the incremental revenues will be more than just from the
fares charged on the dangleway.

That's a bit controversial, currently. It's quite as obvious as it
should be that claims it would not cost the taxpayer anything are going
to be delivered.

Not if they get there on a Travelcard (including Olympic ones) or a
capped Oyster. That's more travel more no more revenue.

I hope someone inside TfL has modelled all this, but sometimes I wonder
if they do (rather than pick a number and cross their fingers).

TfL is a functional body that does what the Mayor tells it to do.

That's a positive spin, a lot of people claim it's dysfunctional!
