Default Journey planner having a fit - again

Colin wrote

I just tried using the new journey planner again for a journey to 1
Birdcage Walk one morning next week.

It insists I go via St James's Park, one stop further on the
District and Circle lines than Westminster but estimates the
walking distance (fast walking) as 7 minutes from St James's Park
and 5 minutes from Westminster!

WTF?

It thinks it's a nicer walk?

.. Not much in it. Neither are through the park!

.. I should have added that if you ask for Westminster station to 1 Birdcage
Walk it actually tells you to take the train to St James's Park (1 minute)
then walk (7 minutes) and also tells me I can "Walk this in 5mins"!

I called up the South East travel planner which offered (from Liverpool St
station) 20 options

the shortest (29 mins) ending in a walk from Westminster.

A walk from St. James's Park Underground Station was offered but started
with a walk to Cannon St Underground, 34 mins

Other suggestions included going via Aldgate East, the W&C, the 11, 23 or 76
buses and even National Express Shuttle Coach 011.

I managed to kill the Aldgate East options by upping my walking speed to
fast. That cut the Bank/Monument interchange time from 8 minutes to 6. I
think the Aldgate East assumed connection time may also be a bit generous. I
think I got some of the weirder options including a coach when I tried a
step-free option.
