Question about Contactless

The problem with monthly caps is that it's almost certainly going to be based on a defined month of 1st-31st, which isn't going to suit the vast majority of people I used to be paid 13 times a year, ie a 4-week, 28 day month starting on a Monday (a calendar was supplied) As is the state pension but that is probably not very relevant to commuters! Which reminds me of an entirely OT story. Many, many years ago when my employer wanted to change junior office staff from a weekly cheque to monthly payment, it had to recognise that said staff used to rush off to their bank at lunchtime and cash the weekly cheque. Many would be in real trouble if they had to do without a payment until the end of the month. So the monthly cheque would be in advance but because of the UK's strange tax year, it woud be on the 5th of the month! My company pension is still paid that way 65 years later. Which just goes to show the word "monthly" can have a variety of meanings! Guy Gorton |
