Default Electric bike trailers for UPS

Interesting move – if it works as planned, will other delivery companies
follow?

About the tenth such vapourware project in recent years lapped up by
gullible journalists

"It is applying for a licence to use the smaller trailers on
pavements"

Oh joy.

My guys in London who use UPS every day were told the first batch of six have
arrived with more on the way. Their UPS rep thinks they are based on electric
box bikes used in Netherlands.

I'm not doubting the commitment to do a trial, but they often aren't a
roaring success. UPS has had to fit "range extenders" to its electric
vans, for example - basically a generator to top up the battery
en-route, a very crude kind of hybrid.

And if they are desperate enough to be wanting to use bikes and trailers
on the pavement to make it viable, then I suspect this one will too.

Whatever happened to the TNT trial to have parcels delivered to Euston
Station by train, with the final leg by electric van?

Their UPS rep thinks they are based on electric box bikes used in
Netherlands.

The Netherlands has many more city roads where conventional vehicles
have long been banned most of the day. Therefore other means of delivery
are more commonplace anyway. Just like many commuters cycle simply
because there's just nowhere to park near their offices.
