Why not catch the 1703 Thameslink service from Brighton directly to
London Bridge, arriving at 1807. You can then catch various buses up
to Liverpool Street (journey time 16 minutes) - a much quicker journey
overall.

Why not carry on to Farringdon, nip over the bridge and get a Circle/Met/H&C
train to Liverpool Street.

By far the easiest route. Earlier trains at 1607 and 1629, offering a pretty
route as well, via Tulse Hill.

Well the Number 11 runs from Victoria (Terminus Place, which is 'behind'
the Bus Station) to Liverpool Street. It's timetabled for about 35
minutes, and buses should run every 7 to 8 minutes.

There's also the 705, which stops in Wilton Road. That calls at Victoria
at 18 and 48 minutes past the hour and is timetabled for a more
leisurely 45 minutes to make the (limited stop) journey.

Yes, but the timetables bear absolutely no relation to reality. Four
bus routes go from Brixton Station to Streatham Station - 109, 118, 159
and 250. Each of them follows exactly the same route, but they are all
timetabled to take different times, from 11 minutes (109) to a rather
more realistic 19 minutes! I suppose the different companies involved
don't realise what prats it makes them look, especially when two or more
buses share a stop!

Thanks everybody ! I may just go for the Number 11 !!

One thing though , one for Barry ... would a through routed rail ticket , in
this example , Brighton to Bethnal Green be valid on the bus ?
Thanks
Flob

Probably not, but it's only going to cost you £1 (buy your ticket from
the machine, as you can't buy one on the bus in the central area), so it
won't absolutely break the bank!

Or take the Northern Line from London Bridge to Moorgate, then walk to
Liverpool Street. You might even find that the train wasn't too busy; i
can't imagine there are that many people who work at or south of London
Bridge who live to the north. People will mostly be getting on northbound
trains at Bank or Moorgate.

Well, in my experience from a few months commuting to Docklands, when I
would often change at London Bridge, there were always hordes and hordes
wanting to get on the Northern Line!

But that was presumably morning rush hour, and he is talking about evening.

Not cross-platform. The cross-platform moves are NB-NB and SB-SB.

Curses! Yes, it's a contraflow crossplatform interchange there, isn't it.
Well, physically contraflow, albeit logically conflow, IYSWIM.

Hmm. Why does the Victoria drive on the right from Warren Street to King's
Cross?

*******S.

I do accept that the Euston arrangement is the most sensible, though,
since it helps you keep going in the same general direction (north or
south - even though the northbound Northern line is heading southwest at
Euston), but the other way is useful too - it helps you get from Victoria
to the City.

If they were really clever, they would have put the crossover between
Euston and King's Cross, and built King's Cross crossplatform with the
Northern (City) as well, so you could make an easy interchange in either
direction. This would, of course, also have allowed people to do Euston -
KX - Euston with only crossplatform interchanges; a great boon to
travelling humanity, i'm sure you'll agree.

I wonder what the conductors are doing with the money people pay them
on the 38 then.
