Use of .ic.ac.uk has been proscribed and the ICT Department had fun trying to change all the domain servers to .imperial.ac.uk. That seems very stupid. Do I need to change .ic.ac.uk references on my Web site to .imperial.ac.uk ? Well, most of the base URLs SHOULD still work, or at least redirect, but I would check any deep links you have, as most of the web servers have been replaced too, and many URLs are now awful Oracle CMS-based long unmemorable things. No guarantee that just changing .ic. to .imperial. will work at all. On the other hand, plenty of servers have not changed at all yet... Suck it n see, I'm afraid! |

... .ic.ac.uk Is that normally pronounced "Ick Ack Uck"? -- John Rowland - Spamtrapped Transport Plans for the London Area, updated 2001 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acro...69/tpftla.html A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood. That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line - It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes |

.ic.ac.uk
Is that normally pronounced "Ick Ack Uck"? Yes, and the Department of Computing is doc.ic.ac.uk, "Dock Ick Ack Uck". DoC also once had a server called hock.doc.ic.ac.uk, hence "Hock Dock Ick Ack Uck". -- Ashley |

I've had no dealings with DoCSoc since 1999... |

She almost wished she'd gone there just to have such a lovely e-mail address, and envied her friend, who had. Of course, when her father was there, e-mail hadn't been invented! -- "Mrs Redboots" http://www.amsmyth.demon.co.uk/ Website updated 23 January 2005 with new photos |

I spent about twelve years thinking how it would be cool to have one and then when I finally got one, they rebranded it out of existence! (They do still work though.) |

But if you actually tell someone your email address as "at ick ack uck" then they have no idea what you mean by "ick" unless they're at Imperial too (and some people don't know what you mean by "ack" either!). -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |
