Default Changing at Bank

I'm flying from London City this evening, and Journey Planner is
advising me to avoid changing at Bank:

"BANK/MONUMENT STATION: Reduced escalator service until further
notice. Avoid changing trains at Bank/Monument Passengers are advised
to avoid changing trains at Bank/Monument, until further notice, due
to ongoing escalator work which is slowing down interchange time
through the station. The current work at Bank/Monument is leading to
added journey times for customers changing between lines. Customers
can avoid these delays by using alternative interchange routes."

Is changing from the Northern Line to the DLR likely to be a problem
on a Sunday afternoon, or am I best doing what the site says, and
going another way around?

(I'm starting at Wood Green, so I think my best alternative route
would be Piccadilly to KX, Northern to London Bridge, Jubilee to
Canning Town, then the DLR. Which is beginning to sound like a
particularly unsuccessful game of Mornington Crescent)

I don't actually know which escalators are out, but as long as you can
use the direct staircase from the Northern Line platform to the DLR you
should be OK.

Er, I'm not actually sure which escalators are out of use at Bank as I
ain't been there lately, so perhaps someone else could advise on that.
I'm not sure which escalators are affected either - is it a set of
escalators down to the long corridor that's sandwiched between the DLR
platforms - perhaps someone can advise?

If so then given this is a sunday I dare say any subsequent congestion
won't really be of the same order as it would be on a weekday rush-
hour! In addition if you do have heavy luggage then there are lifts
that could take you down to the DLR platforms (leave extra time for
that). In other words despite the warning changing at Bank might well
remain the best route.

The other route you describe is also OK, though the change between
Jubilee and Northern at London Bridge involves a bit of a walk. The
change at Canning Town from the Jubilee to the DLR is very easy - the
DLR platforms are simply on top of the Jubilee ones (it's like a
double-decker station). At Canning Town just make sure you get on a
train bound for King George V (and not Beckton)!

I very much doubt it. Northern line to DLR is only a short distance and
Bank tends to be very quiet on Sundays. TFL is currently reporting "good
service" on both the Northern and DLR.

Thanks for the responses, all. It turns out to be a bit of a moot
point: my flight's been cancelled due to fog, so I've now got a rather
simpler 75 minutes on the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow in the morning.
