Default London Overground Euston - Watford: 6 car trains?

New signs are appearing on London Overground platforms telling drivers
of new Class 378 trains where to stop. It's made me notice that there
are existing markers for 6 car Class 313 trains. Do 6 car Class 313
trains ever operate, perhaps at times of special events at Wembley?
Will 6 car and later 8 car Class 378 trains be possible?
Thanks, Dominic

The only 6 car 313 formations I've had have been running on the
mainline, not DC lines. Some of the platforms north of Harrow may no
longer be in a fit state for 6 car passenger use, although I'm not
certain. 6 car formations do occasionally stable in Euston at
weekends, and I've even see a 6 car stabled formation with the 3 car
service train in front in platform 10. At the moment, there isn't
really sufficient stock to run 6 car trains, unless the North London
line is closed. My feeling is that 8 car 378s will be too long for
most of the intermediate stations between Euston and Watford (and even
for Watford junction platforms 1-4). 6 car formations shouldn't be a
problem, although I doubt that they'll be a regular occurance.

The Rules of the Plan give the following platform lengths for the DC Lines:

London Euston - Platform 9 - 197m (9x20m Vehicles, 8x23m Vehicles)
Platform 10 - 194m (9x20m Vehicles, 8x23m Vehicles)

South Hampstead - Both Platforms - 123m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Kilburn High Road - Down - 164m (8x20m Vehicles, 7x23m Vehicles)
Up - 145m (7x20m Vehicles, 6x23m Vehicles)

Queens Park - Platform 1 - 141m (7x20m Vehicles, 6x23m Vehicles)
Platform 4 - 132m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Kensal Green - Both Platforms - 123m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Willesden Jn - Both Platforms - 125m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Harlesden - Both Platforms - 123m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Stonebridge Pk - Both Platforms - 125m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Wembley Central - Both DC Plats - 127m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

North Wembley - Both Platforms - 123m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

South Kenton - Both Platforms - 121m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Kenton - Both Platforms - 121m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Harrow & Wealdstone - Platform 1 - 121m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)
Platform 2 - 182m (9x20m Vehicles, 7x23m Vehicles)

Headstone Lane - Both Platforms - 128m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Hatch End - Both Platforms - 137m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Carpenders Park - Both Platforms - 128m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Bushey - Platform 1 - 134m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)
Platform 2 - 146m (7x20m Vehicles, 6x23m Vehicles)

Watford High St - Both Platforms - 128m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

Watford Junction - All DC Plats - 135m (6x20m Vehicles, 5x23m Vehicles)

So whilst all of the stations can take a pair of 313s, only Euston,
Kilburn High Road on the Down and Harrow & Wealdstone on the Up can take
a pair of 4 car units.

Cheers,

Barry
