The collection box for veterans adjacent is made from a 12" shell. http://www.ukniwm.org.uk/server/show/conMemorial.3090 Charlie Thanks, Charlie. *I couldn't have hoped for a better (or quicker) reply.. Beautiful inscription: 'The men from the service of The Metropolitan Railway Company whose names are inscribed below were among those who, at the call of King and Country left all that was dear to them endured hardness faced danger, and finally passed out of sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice, giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom ... let those that come after see to it that their names are not forgotten' ... the memorial was 'erected by the directors, officers and staff of the railway' It is shameful that this memorial has been allowed to deteriorate. |
