For discussion at tomorrow's rail and underground panel meeting, a report on
passenger numbers, quicker than expected growth, and subsequent overcrowding
issues

In a perverse way this is awfully good news. :-)

Not for those of us who have no real alternative but to use it

One nitpicking (and probably idiot-boy) question. What does the report
mean by "160 million passengers have used LO since its opening." I
refuse to believe that 160 million distinct individuals have used it:
London does not get *that* many visitors. Is it 160 million journeys?
Counting a daily commute (out and back) as 2?

Yes.

Counting a daily commute (out and back) as 2?


Yes.

Yes. Less confusingly in California the terms "boardings" is used.

It does not say a lot for whoever made the decision some years ago to
replace 6-coach cl.501 units with 3-coach cl.313 units. That went a
long way to driving passengers away from the DC line.
