nothing on the east side, indeed the single Oyster reader, tucked away
by the overbridge is easy to miss, perhaps to help catch...

Not necessarily. From St Albans I can get a ticket either to
Farringdon Und, route Not Underground, or to London Thameslink. ISTR
that the latter did not work the barrier at Farrongdon but...

Weekly and longer Travelcards can be loaded onto your card, but you
still have to pay cash. Day Travelcards on Oyster don't exist.
