The validators at the entrance to the Bank DLR departure platform are
now working, with a notice by them saying that you're liable to a penatly fare if you don't touch in on them when using Oyster PAYG. They are set to Enter only, unlike all other interchange validators. Touching in on them did not show on my journey history. There seems to be no provision to touch out when arriving at Bank DLR. I also couldn't find any interchange validators at Canning Town when changing to the Jubilee. I can't see the reason to have them at Bank as anyone travelling from Bank DLR should have touched in somehere on the tube (not necessarily the case at Canning Town or Stratford) |

How do people get to the validators without either arriving at the station by tube train, or entering at Bank tube station? I can only think it's people who arrive by DLR and immediately want to retrace their steps. -- Roland Perry |

They'd be expected to if they wanted to travel outside their zone on a tube line. But perhaps this situation is treated differently because some people might consider the tube leg and DLR leg as two separate journeys, and not think to touch in at Moorgate. |

If you already had a ticket valid to Bank and were going to use prepay for the DLR journey you wouldn't expect to validate at Moorgate. |

How is that different from having a valid ticket to (say) Elephant and Castle on the northern form somewhere up north, and wanting to use prepay to extend the journey to Balham? -- Roland Perry |

The journey will no more be "all on oyster" than one which switches from northern to DLR at Bank. Let's say they started at Cambridge with a paper ticket to Z1, then changed onto the northern at KX and have got as far as Elephant (or Clapham South if it's a ticket to Z12), and want to continue to Balham by Oyster. -- Roland Perry |
