Seems to work OK for paper tickets. If the trains are broken, the

hassle.

In theory.

TheOneKEA ) gurgled happily, sounding much like they
were saying :

Simple: Oyster validators at every single National Rail station inside
the Zones.

Oh, if only.

I needed to go from Vauxhall to Waterloo recently.

Easiest way? Mainline, right? One stop. Takes longer to type this than the
flamin' journey.

No. The Oyster validator told me to seek assistance. I did. Nope, I've only
got (more than sufficient) PAYG on there, and need at least a weekly
Travelcard.

The bus took ages to arrive, then far longer to actually complete the
journey, plus the walk from where it terminated to Waterloo station itself.

London Kings Cross (suburban platforms 9 - 11)

My daily commute (by FCC, not on an Oyster card) terminates at Platform
9 at King's Cross. I don't believe that I have ever seen any Oyster
touch in/out devices there.

Have they not been installed yet, or am I just not very observant?

Wasn't there a smudge on the work order for installation so they got
installed on platform 9 3/4 ;-)

Yes, but those are only for a special kind of magic Oyster cards. ;-)

You're just not very observant. look by the station at the end of the
platforms (as opposed to the passageway through to Platform 8). I think
there is also one part way up platform 9 by the other way through to 8.

Someone will no doubt explain why they are there.

....because Oyster Pre-pay is available on FCC between King's Cross and
Finsbury Park:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/dlr/tickets/oyster_faqs.shtml#7

However some trains that stop at Finsbury Park depart from the main
shed at KX (often platform 8, I think). Are there any Oyster readers on
platforms 1-8?

Not that I've ever noticed.
