Yes, thanks. Offered that to her on the basis as there'd be no
additional cost[1] albeit takes ~10 minutes longer.

I've already had feedback on the lines of "changing at Finsbury Park was
easy so I don't know what you were fussing about. You could have made
yourself more useful by telling me which platform I needed for my train
to Winchmore Hill as the station information was useless until I got to
platform 7". The latter was something I thought of doing when I checked
her train was on time but decided not to as I didn't want to phone and
appear to fuss even more. Heh ho - just further evidence of the reach
of the 3 laws of thermodynamices*.

They were put in before 1 and 2 were started. They are actually old
platforms that have been brought back into use but that has meant
installing a lift, moving the stairs, new platform buildings, new
platform surfaces, new signs, new CCTV, new PA etc. It seems odd that
gates weren't included in all that.

Is there a plan to gate the whole station which would make barriers on
the platforms unnecessary?

constructed before the war for the Northern Heights extension of the
Northern City Line but never completed before now.

Hmm. You may have a point. That island has always looked incomplete as far
as I recall and that goes back to the late 1960s. Memory failure I suppose,
combined with misinterpretation of the history I have read.
