Has the sandwich board man given up then?

I thought he died years ago.

Since then the scouse megaphone man has come and gone (I think he was
given an ASBO a couple of years ago).

I was thinking the other day how much i missed that guy. London doesn't
have enough established nutters any more.

Also, thinking about that Velociraptor thing, I think -- what with having
trained on turkeys, guineafowl, geese, large chickens, swans and peacocks
as a child -- that I could take a Velociraptor. I'd need a large hessian
sack, some baler twine, and a hook to hang it from. And gloves. Not to
forget the gloves. -- cleanskies

That wasn't the one spouting ultra-left drivel, was it? Or do I have
that confused with someone else?

I can't recall any of them spouting anything with any meaningful
content at all that could be recognised as having a political stance.

The one I was thinking of certainly never said anything with any
content.

There's one or two more boring ones still around. One particularly
boring one who stops at different points along Oxford Street and a
woman who usually stands at Oxford Circus.

But as I said, no meaningful content.

I recall seeing some bloke around Piccadilly Circus a few years back,
say in 2004, going on about socialism or communism. At one point, he was
on a bus ranting away. When somebody challenged him, left-wing nutter
started to target the day, saying something along the lines of: "Look at
him, he wants freedom of speech!"

Other passengers had decided that they had had enough of him at that
point and started to scream at him to shut the f* up.

At one other point, when there was a crowd gathering around one of the
escalators deep within Piccadilly Circus, the above-mentioned nutter
started making announcements to passengers about train service.

A nearby station attendant practically jumped on him and told him that
he could actually cause a stampede, the way he was doing it.

Speaking of Piccadilly and nutters, I also recall seeing on several
occasions, a bloke wearing a triangular frame on his head passing through.

Megaphone man was given an asbo for the Oxford Circus area. Apparently
he now irritates the crowds out at Stratford. One of his younger
'disciples' has now taken his place. Latter is often seen at
Paddington Station blocking the up LU escalator under the Lawn, or at
the Bakerloo exit in Praed Street. But he's only there when there's no
Transport Police around usually on a Sunday evening. Funny the BTP
(whatever) never seem to be around on Sunday evenings. CJB.

Really? I've not seen him in Stratford, and it's not as if he's hard to
miss. When I lived near Highbury, he would regularly wander up and down
my road on matchdays attempting to offer his wisdom. Though I first
encountered him about 10 years ago, not long after I first moved to
London, and he wandered up to me while I was stood around waiting for a
train on the concourse at Euston, made a number of (inaccurate)
wisecracks about my preferred football team, and finished off with some
religious babble before wandering off.

He's not been there lately. However if you go the other side of the shopping
centre on a Saturday morning you can find other evangelists demonstrating
that no-one ever taught them how to make a speech with such equipment.

Where was one at it in Peckham (just up the road from Peckham Rye station)
a few months ago. Outside a Macdonalds, ISTR.
