Default LU driver's managers told him to stop assisting stab victim

Prescotts on a roll. Just after his Wales stunt, he's down to cornwall to

Perhaps he sees himself as the next superhero?

OH dear, the poor people of Boscastle. We used to holiday in that area,
some years ago now, and have several times walked up that river
valley.... it is so not funny what has happened. Imagine Prescott
visiting, must make everything so much worse.....

You would only be liable if you had made things worse, creating a
trap. An example would be failing to put grit down after clearing
the snow so that people walking along will create a thin sheet of
invisible ice. Do the job properly then there should be no problem.

In uk.railway Annabel Smyth twisted the electrons to say:
OH dear, the poor people of Boscastle. We used to holiday in that area,

valley.... it is so not funny what has happened. Imagine Prescott

Prescott is providing a valuable service at this time - all that hot air
has to be good for something ...

Those who are busy doing things must curse some party politician
deciding to impose themself on the area in the interests of
furthering their political party.

The fact that such visits tend to involve hanging around for a long
time must make it worse.

David Hansen ) gurgled happily, sounding
much like they were saying :

You can only hope some hard-pressed rescue worker tells Prescott where to
shove his interference in front of a TV camera...

I hope he doesn't fall in the water, the splash would obliterate Devon as
well.

I think you (and just about everybody else on here) are missing the point.
If Blair is out of the country (which I assume he is), Prescott is acting
head of state. As such, it would be extraordinarily remiss if he did not
show a personal interest and concern, on the state's behalf, in any major
disaster of national significance. You would expect to see the head of state
in any other country visit such a disaster. It is NOT a political visit. If
he did not visit, he would also be criticized (rightly).

Whether such visits do any good may be arguable - the proof of the pudding
will be when we see what, if any, financial assistance Government makes
available to the local community to help rebuild. Hopefully his
understanding has been improved by the visit (which, incidentally, the local
lunchtime news described as "brief").

Whether Prescott is a credible acting head of state is, of course, a matter
of opinion - usually of political opinion, I expect! Mine, for what it is
worth, is that there are plenty worse candidates around! Two jags is an easy
target for wags and comics - which makes him a tad more human than the likes
of Blair, in my view!

No doubt this is true, but somewhere some tabloid journalist is
trying to decide whether to castigate Tony Blair or Prince Charles
for not dropping everything and visiting the scene. Damned if you do
and damned if you don't!
